🏘 Client: Godfrey London
🏛 Architect: Randle Siddeley
📍 Location: Kilburn, London
📄 Contract: JCT Design and Build Contract 2016
💷 Project Value: £250,000
📅 Completion: Q2 2020
Project Summary: Structural and architectural metalwork package for a high-quality residential scheme.
MKMetals Ltd collaborated with Godfrey London Developments to design, fabricate, and install a comprehensive structural and architectural metalwork package for a high-quality residential development, delivered during the challenging period of COVID-19 restrictions in the UK.
With reduced site capacities, disrupted supply chains, and evolving government guidance impacting construction activity nationwide, careful planning and adaptability were essential to maintaining progress. MKMetals Ltd maximised off-site fabrication to minimise time on site, improve quality control, and reduce the number of operatives required during installation in accordance with social distancing measures.
The scope of works included supporting structural steelwork, forming the framework for key elements of the scheme. A major component was the manufacture of pre-assembled balcony units within our workshop, complete with powder-coated balustrades, enabling streamlined and phased onsite installation in line with restricted working conditions.
Additional works comprised the supply and installation of balcony frameworks, structural glass balustrades, and polished stainless-steel handrails, delivering a modern and refined aesthetic.
The full architectural metalwork package also included estate railings, main access gates with integrated automation, and perimeter fencing to ensure security and visual cohesion across the development.
Despite logistical and programme challenges arising from pandemic-related disruptions, MKMetals Ltd successfully coordinated production, delivery, and installation to maintain quality, safety, and compliance throughout the project.
The completed scheme demonstrates resilience, precision engineering, and effective collaboration under unprecedented industry conditions.
