Safety barriers are engineered to restrict access to hazardous or high-risk areas, protecting personnel, equipment, and operational processes. MK Metals Ltd design, manufacture, and install robust safety barrier systems that provide effective segregation while maintaining durability in demanding industrial and commercial environments.

All safety barriers are bespoke designed to meet site-specific requirements, including impact resistance, access control, and operational use. Systems are developed in accordance with BS 6180: Barriers in and About Buildings, ensuring compliance with required heights, loadings, and performance criteria where applicable. Where barriers are subject to vehicle or plant impact, designs are engineered to withstand anticipated loads and operational forces.

 

Material selection is based on performance, environment, and lifespan requirements.

 

Carbon steel is commonly specified for its high impact resistance and structural strength, with alternative materials including stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium, or brass where corrosion resistance, reduced weight, or aesthetic considerations are required. Protective treatments are applied in line with BS EN ISO 12944 to suit exposure and corrosion categories.

 

Fabrication and assembly are carried out in accordance with BS EN 1090, using appropriate welding and mechanical fixing methods to ensure structural integrity and consistency. Surface finishes, including galvanising and powder coating, are applied to enhance durability, visibility, and long-term performance.
